Public Art Program
The City of Ontario Public Art Program
The City is committed to enriching the lives of its residents and visitors by integrating artworks within the community through the Public Art Program, which was established by City Council in 2022. Public art encourages dialogue and interaction, acts as a mechanism to enliven and celebrate neighborhoods, and is a means to drive tourism, making Ontario the premier destination for arts and culture in the Inland Empire.
The goals of the City of Ontario’s Public Art Program are:
- To promote public art as a cultural resource for the community, and act as a mechanism to enhance the City's commercial vitality and economic stability.
- To bring contemporary art into the environment and life of Ontario, enriching the lives of City residents and visitors by exposure to art in various forms, encouraging both emerging and established artists living in Ontario and the surrounding region.
- To acquire and commission quality and diverse works of art for community enrichment that is site specific and environmentally responsive.
- To have a public art collection that is reflective of the overall diversity of current works in the field of visual arts, enriching the quality of life and economic vitality of Ontario.
- To increase awareness of Ontario’s art in public places activities as an integral component for attracting businesses and tourism to Ontario
